A straightforward, easy to follow short route through fields and along quiet lanes, with good views of Wharfedale. Instead of crossing over the road on the bridge in Pool, you can take the path on the pavement side and loop under the road crossing into the field....

It then follows good farm tracks and well signed footpaths to Riffa woodland (accessed via a simple stream crossing), before threading up a v old and attractive trackway to Stainburn, with more views of Almscliffe Crag....
Sarah
Travelling in this direction crossing the A61 at ///gave.middle.bids is dangerous as its a fast dual carriageway without a passenger refuge and the traffic from the right can not be seen clearly due to a bend in the road....

I'm not sure about this route it is long and quite taxing, it passes through some wonderful countryside but it is very dull. The initial section to Ben Rhydding was quite dull being along a busy road....
Stearsb
This is a lovely walk with plenty of interest and very little road walking. It is well worth walking but remember you have to find some way back because there is no public transport from Stainburn....
Chrisl
After the river crossing the path bears left diagonally across the field towards a large round tree in the distance. Turning sharp left the path goes along field boundaries, crosses the B6161 (great care needed because the hedge is the edge of the road and there is no verge here) then passes through the middle of a large field heading for the river Bridge at Pool....

Chrisl added Staihar two, a new walk from Stainburn to Harrogate
Walk this routeYes, roads are narrow and busy in this area. Route should be removed....
Ross
Four stars as not fully accessible due to stiles and a stepping stone crossing. Care required crossing a single car width bridge with no doorways....

the view from the church bench or path from the church to the village is a better place to pause....

There was a temporary diversion off the road from 1.0km to 1.4km of the slow ways route starting at the Sun Inn. This is possibly a short extension but an improvement as it route via the Fewston water side path. Four starts only because it is not as accessible for buggies or wheelchairs....

If walking from Otley to Stainburn I recommend carrying on up the hill from Stainburn to St Mary's church....

I'd recommend continuing up the hill to St Mary's church at Stainburn rather than turning right to the village. There's a bench which is good for a picnic or a quick rest before heading on, and you can shelter in the porch if it's poor weather....

The dogleg into Pool is totally pointless and presumably only added to link up with a Pool to Stainburn route. I'd remove this route as it is potentially dangerous and likely to get people runover....
