Lots of problems with this walk though - a lot of walking on the road (& reasonable amount of traffic), lots of stiles - some very high, others very unstable....

Struggling to even give this one star, although walked the route in August it was a very wet day which perhaps didn't help....

The review by Yorkterrier gives three alternative options and Haxshe two is the one using Foss Walk and Ebor Way....

Slow Ways Cristie added Haxshe two, a new walk from Haxby to Sheriff Hutton
Walk this routeAt Strensall New Bridge, you follow the footpath signs ond walk along the west bank of the Foss until you reach the Sheriff Hutton Road. As of May 2020, part of this route is blocked under repair and so there is a diversion through Duncombe Farm (you would have to walk along the non-pavemented Sheriff Hutton Road). Whilst the map shows the first part of this route correctly, the part where it crosses the Foss to the SW footpath by Brecks Lane Farm does not exist as there4 is no bridge). 3 Walk along the route of the Foss Walk/Ebor Way through Strensall Village and then along Brecks Lane towards Walbutts Sewage Works. Within West Lilling, you follow the footpath signs and then head towards Sheriff Hutton with views of the Castle as you approach heading up towards the Village Hall and cricket field.....

Map reading skills will be needed as the route is sometimes not waymarked and the PROW is obscured occasionally. Starting in Sheriff Hutton outside Quarmby’s deli and coffee house the route quickly leads out of the village (keep to the elevated path) to join the Ebor Way. This occurred again just North of New House Farm way the way is blocked by a race course markers....
