When walked on a Sunday afternoon this land was being extensively used by trail bikes, quad bikes and other off-road vehicles which made it feel intimidating and unsafe....

This is a good route using quiet residential roads or easy to follow footpaths. There is currently a substantial housing development underway in the Cowlishaw area which is impacting some local footpaths. The diversion for this route is short and quite obvious so I have uploaded a screenshot rather than creating a new route for a very minor change....

It includes two pleasant parks, some interesting civic buildings and some nice countryside views. Note that the path crosses a busy working farmyard where care should be taken....

There are good public transport links with the Manchester Metrolink at Shaw and an hourly (two hourly on Sundays) bus service at Denshaw....

High Barn Street is a busy road, a better route would be along Radcliffe Street to the east end and then the public footpath alongside the golf course that links in to the bend at the peak of High Barn Street1...
