Help connect Sedgley
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Sedgley’s Slow Ways.

I completed this walk yesterday walking from Sedgley. In particular, the Wren's Nest - a fascinating area which is undoubtedly the highlight of the walk and in my opinion elevates it to five stars, for to give it any less would do the walk a disservice....

The highlight however is the section over Sedgley's Beacon Hill where the views are amazing....

Quite a functional feel at the Wolverhampton end, although the design keeps you away from the busiest roads. The magic starts on reaching Sedgley Beacon which is a reasonably gentle climb and delivers views almost immediately. Direct and safe, places for food and drink at either end and very well served by frequent public transport....

Walk this routeI can recommend the walk as being achievable, but as already mentioned a better route must be available?...
Steve Litchfield
I really enjoyed this route and was pleasantly surprised at the rural feel to the walk for the heart of the Black Country....

It promises to be a clever back way to the edge of Wolverhampton from the centre of Sedgley, but although the footpath starts well it eventually deteriorates and involves a bit of scrambling....

Walk this routeThe footpath out of north west Sedgley was hard to spot (where the stile took you away from the lane) and then became increasingly difficult to follow (overgrown) and needed some scrambling which lost it a star....

I was in the home straight of this in Sedgley when I discovered that there's no way through at the end of Horton Close. Looking at the map there isn't even a suggestion that there is. Poor plotting!...

You cross Parkes Hall Road and enter Mons Hill and then Wrens Nest Nature Reserve. The final section of the walk is pretty well all pavement into Dudley....

David Sanderson added Seddud three, a new walk from Sedgley to Dudley
Walk this routeA route based on a walk that two of us did when trying to follow Seddud one. This section of the route in Wrens Nest is easy to follow and is incredibly peaceful as it's such a sheltered place, BUT, it does have a lot of climbs and descents, some exceedingly steep....

There's not a lot of walking along the main road and then a couple of residential side streets before you join a track into countryside....

At SO 9377 9152 the route follows a right of way but there is no path up the steep bankside there....
