Help connect Rossington

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Rossington’s Slow Ways.

Walk this route

Inevitably this is a mostly urban walk, although it uses the Doncaster greenway where it can. The most interesting section of the walk was Lakeside, with its attractive lake and the Doncaster rugby/football stadium. When you get to the first lot of water coming from Rossington (a small marina, with flats opposite), keep to the path right on its edge rather than crossing the park – which is shown as the route but is now being built over....

Walk this route

This leads you into the large ex-colliery village of Rossington, where the route goes along the wide avenue – effectively a very quiet dual carriageway, with a grassy, tree-lined central reservation dotted with park benches....

Straightforward route - if you need to walk between these 2 places it’s the obvious way, but it’s nothing special....

Tansy Hepton

Walk this route

It was mainly fine except one stretch of path which was over ankle deep and I took my shoes and socks off to wade through which wouldn't be all that nice in winter! A mix of national cycle path, footpaths and urban walking with plenty to keep you interested along the route as well....

Dan Barron

Walk this route

As a route between the two places this is direct and safe and perfectly usable. It's not as diverse in scenery as Conisbrough to Wadworth but it absolutely does the job....

New route in Bessacarr through the new housing estate and under the railway line isn’t signposted but as I knew the area I was able to find it. Good footpaths all the way suitable in all weather conditions, with very little traffic for the main part....

Also, there is a nice coffee stop at the Classic and Contemporary Coffee Shop which is at the caravan shop along the route to Bawtry....

Walk this route

I’ve given this three stars as it is a nice walk - except for high common lane. Cars wiz down here really quickly, but there isn’t a footpath. I kept having to jump up on to the grass verge which was high with weeds....

Walk this route

Only really encountered other people as we got close to Tickhill. Suitable for walkers / dog walkers or cyclists....

Walk this route

A great countryside walk - although having done this in winter, I know it does get very wet and muddy leaving Rossington around the back of the iport area....
