One section east of Ynysybwl, at a house called Carreg Barn, is unfriendly with "No Tespassers" sign but the Public Footpath sign points through their gate....

The names of the farms didn`t tie up with anything on my OS map, so in the end I gave up and took a footpath across the moor leading into Trebanos, then down the main road into Porth, which is not an acceptable alternative route....

The route is fine on the first part, and leaving Penygraig on the first part of the mountain path, but the access problems are around the Graigddu Farm....

Fiona Davies added Tonpor three, a new walk from Tonyrefail to Porth
Walk this routeI recommend using TONPOR2 as an alternative - it's the same as TONPOR1 except that it turns off the main road higher up....

The left turn off the main road through Cymmer is beside the Trebanog roadsign/Chinese takeaway; go slightly left to find the path - look for the green railings (see pictures)....

I couldn't find the path on the hill south of Porth. See Tonpor2....

Walking from Tonyrefail, there’s an automatic gate at the entrance to Glyn Farm; if it doesn’t open, there’s a stile and a permissive path sign....

A nice traffic free route, but be aware that it is not well lit so may not be suitable for night time walking, and there are some barriers which may be difficult for wheelchair users to pass through. I have reported these to the local authority so hopefully they will be removed soon....
