From Featherstone's meeting point in the small square, we go north a few steps up Station Road and cross (if necessary there is a pelican crossing just north of Wilson Street) then head east along Victoria Street and take the first path left which passes new houses and the Featherstone Rovers rugby league ground. Beyond the ground we follow the lane east then look for the little path through the trees towards the level crossing....

Route ends at Pontefract bus station making getting back to Castleford easy once completed....

This route goes from Pontefract to South Elmsall using footpaths and bridleways to keep off road as much as possible....

Good, mostly tarmac route through Pontefract Park. The roads at Glasshoughton can be busy but there are crossings. No real alternative to Glasshoughton....
