Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

I thought it was great- vibrant Peckham, and onto a tree lined path and a park. Plenty to keep my interest throughout the walk....

Quite a steep (13%) gravelly path up and down past Nunhead Cemetery, a bit slippy and may cause problems for wheels....
Strider
Another urban gem, a string of interesting historic streets with green jewels of parks strung onto it. Surprisingly green and never loses your interest. Pavements and tarmac paths all the way, and apart from the usual street furniture obstacles, good for wheels....
Strider
Not as nice as the other Canada Water-Peckham walk, walking mainly along busy roads....
Loz Flowers
Several nice green spaces between various building sites at Peckham, Old Kent Road and Canada Water. It can be quiet between Surrey Canal Road and Oldfield Grove. There are no access issues....

The steep downhill/ uphill will not be accessible for all....

I really enjoyed this walk, and don't agree that it was hard to follow and it being inaccurate....
Derick Rethans
After the park, it follows quite back streets to end up on a path alongside a railway with a great view of the South East London Combined Heat & Power plant (photo #3), where it then soon goes past a football ground....
Derick Rethans
There's no crossing for Nunhead Lane and bends in the road in both directions....
Daisy C
From Kennington Park through Burgess Park, down Brunswick Park and then along Lucas Gardens....
Slow Ways Darren
I enjoyed this route, it’s a straightforward walk across SE London, with a pleasant park at Hilly Fields, where I stopped for a cup of tea at an excellent hill top cafe. The very end of the route at Lewisham could be more accurately drawn, I had to double back to get to a safe crossing point on the main road. This would be my only minor irritation with the route, but I don’t think it warrants making a new option....
Jane Taylor
A very pleasant walk, with ample space for having a side-by-side conversation....
pmostert
This is a series of busy streets, walkways and cycle paths joining three parks. A lovely walk with plenty to hold your attention or distract the eye; bustling highstreets, quiet roads, open fields; tarmac paths and lovely green spaces; markets and supermarkets....
Strider
I used this Slow Way to simplify travel to the Brockley/Honor Oak area; it cut out a fiddly train change and meant I got to see some parts of SE London I had never explored up to now....
Jane Taylor
Straight forward route involving foot paths, parks and quiet roads. There is one section that goes past an industrial estate and Millwall football stadium which may not be safe to walk at night because it feels quite isolated. Otherwise, no obvious problems....
Intrepid Rabbit
After dark, I would suggest continuing along Linden Grove, turning right onto Ivydale Road and then right again onto Limesford Road to rejoin the route....
Intrepid Rabbit
Starting at Kennington, I was led through many green spaces of various sizes, some of which I had no idea existed until now....
Intrepid Rabbit
It includes the Surrey Canal Walk, which is a favourite walk of mine, leading to Burgess Park (also on the site of a filled in canal)....
Intrepid Rabbit
It might feel less safe when it's dark, however, so if you're uncomfortable, you can use Herne Hill Road instead of Poplar Walk Passage, and then Coldharbour Lane instead of Brixton Station Road....
Ingrina
It does a great job park-hopping while staying fairly direct. I loved especially the stretch through Ruskin Park, with great views of London. The route just kept on giving, and it was quite fun to walk....
mtormey
Likely not an issue if you're walking Peckham to Kennington, but the exit from Kennington Park isn't where the route says it is....
mtormey
It essentially park-hops, alternating between parks and quiet residential streets, but it largely stays direct on the way between Kennington and Peckham....
mtormey
The section along the back of Nunhead Cemetery feels quite isolated and may be intimidating if alone at night....
ponponjo
Some places to eat and drink around Loughborough Junction, and you pass two train stations if walking turns out not to be an option anymore....
LucyC
Nice route from Peckham to Kennington (or vice versa) avoiding main roads and taking advantage of some hidden green spaces in the city. Completely flat. Option to extend your walk by exploring Burgess Park as well....
LucyC
From here on it really takes advantage of the green spaces - first with Burgess Park and a walk round the lake, then with the green route up to Peckham using the Surrey Canal path....

jonny added Peccan two, a new walk from Peckham to Canada Water
Walk this routeThe route crosses Kennington Park and through to Kennington gardens. After crossing Camberwell Road the route takes you round Addington Square and to the edge of Burgess Park where there is a cafe. Then turn left into Elmington Road and then right along St Giles Road where you walk through Brunswick Park which has a cafe. Crossing Peckham Road, you then enter Lucas Gardens and up Vestry Road. The hill between Vestry Grove and the end of Warwick Gardens can be circumvented by continuing along Peckham Road and turning right down Bellenden Road, eventually re-joining the route at Holly Grove....

Dulwich also has a good (if fancy) selection of cafes, shops and restaurants and the nearby art gallery and park would make a nice detour (there are public toilets in the park)....
shedges
It passes through Hilly Fields which rewards you for the climb with great views, a nice cafe and a children's playground (there are toilets at the cafe)....

i'd use this again in order to keep away from a busier route, its fairly direct and safe and the route is easy to follow....
JWAUBORN
This route makes the most of the green spaces between the two locations, some only small but all pleasant to walk through. I would suggest continuing down Windsor Walk at Denmark Hill station rather than going up on to the main road....
Dannyash
A short section through Greendale Fields is a welcome bit of green space. Good options for stop off points for food/drink...
