A lot of this route was really lovely, but there are a few points where I would adjust it, and I will do so in an alternative version, soon....

I walked this route on a day of sunshine and sudden showers, with lots of rainbows, so it was pretty, and muddy, and I got wet! After crossing the river bridge the path through the woods was a bit muddy with lots of roots, almost making a staircase at one point....

This short but direct route left Hapton Station (note that this is currently a request stop on the railway) along the pavement of a relatively quiet road, making up half the route....

The parts in Burnley itself were interesting and we popped into look at Gawthorpe Hall as a detour....

Where the fence turned away to the north east, there was a stile, and I can now see, from Google satellite view, that there is a trodden path on the other side of the fence, which I would use next time! I think this would be a lovely route in the summer – if you took the path the other side of the fence....

After leaving the main road from Simonstone, the track descended through fields with lovely views ahead. My route diverted past the bandstand and down to the river, but the path seemed to disappear and the obvious route was back up steps to pass the church on the main road....

I designed and walked SimPad Two because I was worried about access from Altham Bridge to the Public Right of Way on the south of the river, and when I looked on Google street view it looked private....
