From Shepherds Bush to Old Oak Common, first pass Shepherds Bush market; then go by the back of the old BBC studios at Wood Lane, through a lovely Japanese influenced park. If you are going on towards Wembley the Slow Ways route to Wembley picks up seamlessly from this one on Old Oak Common Lane....

Take note of Cristie’s first comment/review - there’s no access to the Old Oak Common meeting point at present, but I think the route should stand as it is for the time being despite its obvious limitations....

Short, functional route mostly through suburban streets, with the final section in the run-in to Old Oak Common itself having major construction (for the Elizabeth Line depot, and HS2). Another reviewer has noted, but it bears repeating, that this node will become accessible again once the works are complete. And in the meantime, its a small treat for those (like me) who like their engineering....

But as a railway enthusiast, he'd presumably approve of the Elizabeth Line depot and HS2 construction which currently make the access to the exact Old Oak Common Slow Ways terminus impractical....

Quite straight forward down to Wormwood Scrubs, which was a welcome piece of green down to the prison and to the hospital. A bit confused with the path and ended up going over steep steps down to a fairly straight road to Shepherds Bush. Lots of places for refreshment....

The steps adjacent to the tube station were quite steep and then I struggled to find the cut through path....

Old Oak Common is not accessible as a node yet but there are places of interest nearby (Wormwood scrubs Park, East Acton Tube, Hammersmith Hospial and Linford Christie Stadium, so the walk may be worth your while....

There are steps close to Wembley station that can be walked around, the suburban streets to the Grand Union Canal....

It is a good route, however, and you can continue along the canal to various places (Wemkil uses to same path for example) and it passes close by to other stations....

An odd one to review as you cannot access Old Oak Common node, yet, and I started by the canal (having just walked Oldkil)....

This route has two halves: one is from Kilburn to the canal, and then the second is along the canal. On the Kilburn half, the route mainly sticks to quiet residential areas, and I just loved the architecture of the buildings....

I was continuing on from Westbourne Park to Wembley, so I just stayed on the Grand Union Canal and didn’t bother trying to get off it....

Following the paved Grand Union Canal towpath makes navigation incredibly simple, and there were lots of interesting details to keep the walk engaging, like a cool bridge, or industrial activity as the city gradually changed, or a lovely canal-side restaurant....

Quick and direct route - nearly all through residential areas, so not especially interesting, but safe and accessible. Old Oak Common is just a building site currently, so harder to judge the final section....

I'm not sure that the canal section is nice enough to be worth the unpleasant walk through the industrial estate, so a more direct route would probably be better....

It's all right along the canal, but the part through the industrial/business estate was unpleasant. It's also not the most direct route....

I walked this as part of my tube walking project, as part of the Central Line walk. It is quite pleasant, although very residential. Easy access and walking on pavement....
