Between South Zeal and North Tawton is on quiet minor roads for the most part. at Throwleigh I would recommend not taking the Two Moors Way route which goes through the churchyard, it is quite muddy at the river crossing and I think is unnecessary the short road section north of Throwleigh is very quiet and more direct....

Lovely cross country route using a mix of footpaths, bridleways, lanes, and short sections of road walking (with verges). I walked from North Tawton to Hatherleigh, and the first 2 miles were on footpaths following the Devonshire Heartland Way, and it was hilly!...

I walked from North Tawton to Okehampton, and after walking downhill from the middle of the town got on to the Tarka Trail via a weird and narrow turnstile - who's idea was that?? It's short though, and then the route is all quiet country lanes to Okehampton, sometimes with great views, and very peaceful....

I walked from Lapford to North Tawton, and almost all of it is along quiet lanes, which at the tops of the hills have fantastic views....

There is no way across the railway where the route suggests, so I have uploaded NorLap3 which uses the road bridge to cross the railway and is more direct...

Before exiting Dartmoor you stop at a lovely village called South Zeal which i was fortunate enough to arrive as they had just started their yearly festival. Stayed for a few days and enjoyed the folksy music and people. From there it's mostly country roads up to North Tawton but it can't be helped with the lack of public footpaths....
