At Burrowbridge, where there is another pub, the route switches to the other side of the river to access the lovely walk along the River Parrett trail for the second half of the walk to Langport. For the second half of the walk to Langport, the route takes the River Parrett Trail, which uses grassy paths along the top of the old river ramparts between the Parrett itself and its flood relief channel....

Walk this routeMuch of this route is fine but the footpath across the fields between Little Moor and Moorland is currently hopeless....

Overall this is a lovely walk, even though conditions in the area of recent tree felling and fencing work east of Stream Farm mentioned by the second reviewer are currently muddy and not ideal (particularly a footbridge that amusingly doesn’t quite make it across the stream - as the first picture shows). The route out of the village is quiet and pleasant, but watch for one of the route plot’s bigger failings, which is that the entrance to the footpath through the fields is actually at the bottom of the hill next to the stream at Melcombe. Coming westwards from North Petherton, you need to cross the stream on both of the two little stony bridges you come across (not signed), and the entrance to the ongoing narrow path through the woods (which is clearly signed) is hidden in the trees....

No significant problems and my walking buddy, who had never been on the route, thought it was great. The only toilets and refreshments are a Fyne Court, approximately half way....

A good walk, used it to get to Glastonbury on a multi day long hike. Would recomend...
Oli Sturdy
It is unusable in its current form because it uses roads and tracks through the private grounds of St Audries Park where there is no public right of way. A new version of this route is definitely needed!...

The route through the new build at Willstock is a little different from Norbri (1) but easier to follow now that Willstock Lane is open again. Be prepared for more changes as more building continues here. Overall a safe and easy route....
Tim Ryan
Enjoyable shorter walk - this route is accurate but take care with the route through the new build housing estate as there is new buildings popping up....

Reading the other reviews, it may be more tricky in the warmer months when there's more growth in the crops, but for us it was easy-sailing....

The path then goes through a holiday camp and was not signed as a right of way. At the top it is difficult to work out where the path through the field goes or where it comes out and it is not signed into the field in the other direction either. The path was not signed from the other end (through a farmyard) either. At the T-Junction turn left then, shortly after, there is a track on the right with the Coleridge Way symbol (Brown Quill). Turn right and walk up the lane to the top. Turn left in the field and walk to the top (Walfords’ Gibbet). Follow the minor road straight on for a while before a clear sign on the right. At the minor road turn left and walk along the road into Holford. Otherwise, cut the corner by turning left (signposted Car Park) and following the road past the green. When the road turns sharp right by a stone wall (Ancient Dog Pound), take the path on the left (still following Coleridge Way signs) and climb the long uphill onto the Quantock’s. You drop down from Beacon Hill to Staple Plain car park and, just as you head out of the car park on the other side is a path that leads down to the A39 at West Quantock’s Head (it brings you right out next to The Windmill Pub). You could continue on this road to Doniford or you could turn off part way down at St Audries Bay Holiday Park and follow the road down into the park where you can pick up the South West Coast path to Doniford...

It was not possible at the time of the review to complete the described route, due to footpath closures because of housing development at Wilstock Village....
Tim Ryan
The footpath across the field at Shearson Farm was impossible to follow as the oilseed rape crop has grown and is simply impassable....
Tim Ryan
A short section of minor road with no verge or pavement leads to a new housing estate with more houses being built. I have given this route 3 stars as, while it is still possible to follow, it is difficult to navigate the new housing estate and, with the rate of current building in the area, will involve walking through housing estates for the majority of the route...

Pleasant flat walk out of Taunton along the river and canal. Pleasant walk over fields/stiles through West Monkton....

Then past the pub and upto the village green where you go left and up Church lane (steep) which takes you up the hill to Rose Hill....
