Immediately after the start of the route from Normanby I was faced by waist high crops on one side of the fence and waist high weeds and nettles on the other - see photo....

Walked as part of National Parks Challenge 2026. No problems with route, well documented and mapped. Nothing special about route or landscape but it does the job....

I found it easier to walk around the edge of the Christmas tree plantation than forge a prickly route through the middle. A short stretch on a quiet lane led to a bridleway that then followed field edges. Reaching the lane the route passes Pickering Millennium Wood then enters the best stretch of the walk, along the fast-flowing Costa Beck....

I walked it in March for this review and one section through a farm at Little Edstone had a deeply rutted muddy track running though, which made it difficult to pass. Other than that excellent, mostly well signed, paths, bridleways and very quiet roads. Lovely....
