Help connect Newlyn
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Newlyn’s Slow Ways.

On paper this looked a good flat coastal route, but I found it rather dull compared with Newpen One (which I awarded 5 stars), and the last half mile along Quay Road, between the swimming pool and the end point at the station, was not great - lots of traffic, including some heavy port traffic, and disappearing pavements. Most of my downmarking for this route is from not enjoying the road walk in the last section....

My walk coincided (not entirely coincidentally) with St Piran’s day festivities, highlight being the Furry Dance which was performed along the route through central Penzance. I enjoyed walking the Penzance streets, some quirky shops, twists and turns, and several good footpaths....

It then continues along the seafront, with excellent views of Mount's Bay, until reaching Penzance Lido, and then follows the roadside pavements through Penzance harbour passing pubs, restaurants and cafes until arriving at Penzance train station....

Berkshire Walker added Newpen two, a new walk from Newlyn to Penzance
Walk this routeThere is pleasent Georgian architecture around Penlee Park where you pass the excellent Penlee Museum and Art Gallery (the café is also worth a visit), before a bracing walk along the seafront to the centre of Newlyn with its pubs, shops and cafes (also passing the brilliant Newlyn Art Gallery)....
Berkshire Walker
This is a great route, don't worry about leaving that iconic view of St Michaels Mount - dive into the easy leafy paths and bustle of Penzance. The streets and roads may be crowded in the city centre so be mindful if you step off the (steep) path. Penzance has a practical and varied shopping centre....
Edensyard
This route is fine to walk but misses a lot of the promenade, walkers could follow the road along the seafront or cut down either Morrab Road or Alexandra Road to meet the promenade sooner....
Jo
By diverting into the town the walker will miss the opportunity of walking along the whole of the promenade or at low tide walking part of the way on the beach....
