Help connect Mold
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Mold’s Slow Ways.

A muddy in places route, but perfectly functional. At the bottom, crossings at at the roundabout, and then a good, albeit muddy, footpath along the Alyn brings us into Mold....

Whilst I was able to walk most of the route, I wouldn't recommend it, and preferred MolBuc Two....

Path obstructed in Nercwys forest by trees and undergrowth, - we are working on getting it opened up. Alternatives nearby. I suggest a new "Node" be created at Llandegla to provide more link routes....

An improved route for RUTMOL 2 (which crossed private land near Plas Hafod Hotel, near Mold); In Jan 2023 NRW cleared path along SE edge of Clwyd Forest- still rough and not waymarked, but now useable; at NE corner of forest there is clear sloping diagonal path (avoids very steep section) and stile into field to avoid house garden....

Just arm-chair reviewing this so it can be flagged for accuracy (not following PRoW) and access (routes marked as PRoW but No Entry signs), and safety - the unexpected river crossing - yikes!...

This route is technically navigable (the riverside path problem is pretty short and looks easy to resolve) and it may be very attractive overall, and have lots of off road sections but it does all that at the expense of being direct (nearly twice the shortest possible route!) and of being safe....

Note: suggested route at Plas Hafod Hotel (above Hendy and Hafod roads Mold) goes through PRIVATE GROUND-NO PUBLIC PATH. Use RUTMOL 1 instead - path further north....

4) Just off Cadole-Gweraffield road, passed Deborah’s Well – marked path post has faint writing, take right (for Loggerheads - other sign says straight for Cadole) .. immediately after which path is very rocky underfoot and tree roots, maybe for 30-40Mtrs, coukld be slip hazard in wet / Winter. 5) Heading down to Loggerheads, from top of escarpment, option to take the Left where path forks down rocky thin path which has steep drop to right, passable with care down face of escarpment, but extra caution or avoid if wet Alternative is take path straight on for longer way down using safer steps....
I will be uploading an alternative that incorporates the best of this route and some alternative paths at the Mold and Denbigh ends....

This route works with a couple of small modifications shown below, it includes quite a lot of obstacles making it non navigable on wheels., and you need to be fit enough to hop over plenty of stiles. A slightly revised route has been uploaded taking in this change a few other small tweaks to avoid a few barriers and include the walk past facilities in Loggerheads (cafe and loos)....

There was no public right-of-way from there along the disused railway so we had to follow the main road to GR 084631. At GR 113635 ‘slow ways’ suggested we turn sharp left but there was no public right-of-way so again we continued on the road. Having rather lost faith in the route by now we continued on the road until we rejoined slow ways at GR 135634 and so on into Moel Fammau country Park....
The section from Greenhill Farm to Well Street - across the fields, through the horse paddocks and the perimeter of the farm can get a bit boggy, even without bad weather. Stay on Rose lane and turn left onto Well Street to navigate around this small section, it's a relatively quiet road....
