Help connect Milford Haven

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Milford Haven’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates

From here all of the walk down to Johnston follows the existing train line on a fairly newly laid off road national cycle path (Number 4). There is a fair amount of variety for a cycle path with lots of twists and turns and a bit of low level gradient. On exiting Johnston I took a paved right of way opposite the church down a small alleyway. This took me back onto the National Cycle network again. Further on, there are clear signposts splitting the cycle path with a public right of way straight ahead. I don't know whether it was intentional to build the path off the right of way and/or whether the rights of way team knew anything about it! The right of way exits onto a quiet country lane that runs down to a busier road, where you branch left following the cycle path running adjacent to the road. Care is needed to cross this road and walk along the pavement. After a short section, care is needed again to cross back over and take a right onto a quiet lane and under a railway line. It's an off road cycle path that runs alongside Hubberston Pill into Milford Haven and my end point. the stop off at Johnston was nice to break the journey up and the path alongside Hubberston Pill is a definite highlight to begin/end your walk....

The route leaves Milford Haven via an off road cycle path running alongside Habberston Pill. As you exit the cycle path onto the road you come across Pill Priory. Following this is quiet road walking along grass verges into Tiers Cross. Tiers Cross to Broadway was again road walking on verges, but the road is used as a cut through to Broad Haven. You leave the path at Bromsgrove Farm and take a right up a gentle slope and then take a left onto a grass pathway as you pass a smallholding onto an off road right of way. The quiet road walking takes you via Nolton Cross. This road continues through the sleepy settlement of Nolton and into Nolton Haven. Shortly after the summit the routes goes off road again onto a link right of way to the Welsh National Coast Path....

However unless it’s a national trail (i.e. coast path) there is no chance of this getting resolved any time soon. New route submitted with a diversion and correcting some minor errors where the map differs from the ground....

As you exit Llanstadwell you come across the first off road section along the National Coast Path. The coast path runs south of the oil refinery, now a LPG storage and distribution site, but trees and banks disguise the site well,. The last section is a flat off road tarmac path that looks like an old tram road that takes you into Milford Marina and to the end point....
