Mostly a good route, although not without its errors: the access to the canal from Red Lion Bridge to the canal is via steps, and the canal section is too short to even bother with. It also bears a strong similarity with the LITMAG route which uses much of the same route....

Walk this route

A good route, almost accessible to all: there's the odd step, slopes and barrier, and a fair few tracks and paths with loose stones, so wheelchairs may have issues in the odd place, but walkers, cyclists and buggy-users should have no problems....

95% a good route, but there's a few errors: first, straight from the off, from Litherland station there is a steep footbridge over the main road, and thus excluding wheeled users; second, a footpath taken from the canal into Rimrose Valley is along a narrow earth path through long grass, but there's a tarmac one just around the corner that takes us where we need to go; third, there are steps down to the towpath at Red Lion Bridge, only to get off at the next swing bridge yards later, so best to ignore. As I said, the makings of a good route, which I have corrected on the next route....

A good route through country and canal between urban areas, but wheeled users may have difficulty in places, despite trying to make it as open as possible....

Walk this route

A good route along the canal and well-paved roads between two towns with ample parking, public transport and shopping. Access from Westway in Maghull to the canal, however, is not straightforward, nor good for access. Therefore I have suggested an alternative route for ease and for all users: MAGKIR Two....

Walk this route

An enjoyable walk, mostly along tarmac towpaths and well-paved roads. This route is fully accessible to all users, with no steps and ramps on kerbs. Good shops and bus transport links at either end (rail stations are nearby)....
