This route is mostly along quiet roads and off-road cycle paths, but it does include about 1km on pavement alongside a busy road where more care is needed....

I can't speak to the barbed wire area spoken about in the other review, though I'd say you could also take a right onto Stoneyholm Road from the main road (also Stoneyholm Road...) and get onto the cycle track slightly further back. There definitely aren't access issues at that point. It's a very well maintained cycle track, some nice views on the way over to Lochwinnoch and well sighted the whole way so no surprise cyclists (or pedestrians) round a blind corner....

The point at which the route leaves the metalled road is on the left (north) side of the road immediately before the road crosses a disused railway....
