There's a long section of road walking around Llandow Trading Estate, which, while not overly busy, is not that quiet either....

An excellent walk through lanes and fields, mostly well signposted, until the last section leading into Llanmaes. Photo 5 - Footpath through the wheat fields leaving Llanmihangel...

Once out of Cowbridge, there is a large section along country lanes, but only 2 cars passed me, so not very busy....

Walk this route

I have walked parts of this route several times as I live in Llanmaes, and I also walked the whole route over the summer from Cowbridge. As has already been mentioned in another review, the route is not well-marked south of Llanfihangel, and it crosses fields where rights of way seem to have been ignored and marker posts are absent or have fallen over. It cannot be cycled, although it would not be hard to plan an alternative route through the lanes....

I started this route from Llantwit to Barry, this is a beautiful route with views along the coast....no difficulties, going through two caravan parks and four quiet beaches, then into Porthkerry Park which is stunning. This route has access to toilets and a couple of cafes on route. Highly recommended...

Walk this route

I don't recommend following the route in land as you will be on a fairly busy country road (stick to the coast) toilets and caffies on route....

Walk this route

I enjoyed this walk - enough hazards to make it interesting (running bulls, rickety stiles, boggy patches and a railway line to traverse) but no significant access issues, and the paths were fairly well-marked....

I did this walk in 2 sections: Rhoose to Barry and Rhoose to Llantwit Major. The coast path is about 5 mins walk from Rhoose train station. Both sections are well-marked and easy to navigate with great views of the Bristol Channel....

This is a nice walk, largely along quiet lanes but with a section crossing fields between Llanmihangel and Llanmaes. The northern part of this section is fine, but navigating the southern section was more challenging as the path is much less obvious. The fields consist of green crops which were only knee-high, but if they reach head-height in summer...!...
