This walk was good fun, the views of the river and scenery were lovely. The route was extremely muddy however so dryer weather would be better. We did get a bit lost as the route is slightly inaccurate as it says the bridge is further down, however, it is right at the start so we had to take a detour as there was no bridge to cross, adding and hour to hour route. There are shops along the way and I would say it is rather safe....

I would make a couple of changes which will enhance the walk greatly, when entering the Clifton Country park behind the cafe , which is itself a welcome rest-bite, turn right and when faced with the stunning lake do a right to walk around the pretty marina, maybe feed the ducks. I would then go over the bridge over the "beach" as the original takes you through a field which often has horses in it, follow the path straight on and come up near the water treatment plant, left turn then into Ringley and admire the bridge and the magnificent Irwell River. There you could end your walk with a pint in the Horseshoe or carry on past the pub take a left down Ringley Road then after 50 yards you will see a gravel path, follow that for 1/2 mile and you will be rewarded , after a steep but short climb with a magnificent view from meccano bridge at Nob End....
