Help connect Horwich

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Horwich’s Slow Ways.

Still gives a good chance to stretch your legs and the last section is quite rural and crosses a pleasant golf course....

Wanderer

Walk this route

A good and safe walk but you will encounter a number of obstacles on the route - stiles, kissing gates, narrow gates, a steep stepped bridge over the railway line and a steep stepped section of path....

Stearsb

Walk this route

The footpaths range from residential, compacted earth, gravel, pasture and minor road without footpath, one of the pasture fields showed evidence of cows. The footpath was walked after a dry spell but some areas looked as though they may get muddy, and the footpath also passes close to a stream that could flood. The motorway is crossed by a road bridge at Bolton West motorway services, care should be taken as there are no footpaths but a wide range of services are available here, even a hotel!...
