Next morning train to Honeybourne, entered Cotswold Way via this path - excellent way....

There are a few sections of the road just before you reach the Fosse Way, which have no verge at all (e.g. photo 2) and provide plenty of concern with the passing traffic. Walking along the flat plateau of the Downs, the route passes a couple of transmitters (photo 7) and eventually after a dip to cross the Nebsworth Road reaches the high point of Warwickshire (261m), again giving fine views to the West (photo 9). On the day we did this walk, the descent just below Kiftsgate Court gave us the muddiest section (photo 11) thanks to the splendid English summer weather we've had so far in 2023. Indeed the elevated section of the Downs provide more than one high point to this route, and without the fine views I may have been tempted to just goive this two stars....

I didn't walk the whole of this route since I was coming from Mickleton so I joined at Long Marston for the very pleasant "Greenway" heading north to Stratford. A very easy, safe and convenient route, suitable for all (wheels included). I would only add to the previous review that the two railway carriage cafes are open in summer and are both excellent - I just had to stop to try them both out!...

Definitely a walk of two halves, with the section from Long Marston being the most straightforward as it takes you along the old dismantled railway line all the way into Stratford. There was a little section on the walk today after leaving Broad Marston and before the road at Long Marston which didn't have any footpath signage and where which I was grateful to have GPS on the OS Maps app....

Chose this version after reading the review for the route one, and indeed was glad to get off the main road as we approached Honeybourne. At the top of Dover's Hill, the route takes you downhill steeply through The Lynches Wood to take you to the village of Weston Subedge....

The path that leaves the road outside honeybourne is not maintained. You will walk through a farmyard with an agessive dog (it is contained) to a path that is completely overgrown. It is very hard going along a field edge....

Walk this routeFine apart from the last stretch into Honeybourne which goes along a fast road for further than it needs to, there's a footpath which can eliminate this so will upload a new route....

Between Brentforton and Honeybourne the footpath goes through the poly tunnels in the market garden (some ruts and rough bits to cross). The style at the Honeybourne end of the market garden is damaged, walk left to the field gate instead. Generally a very nice walk, lots of autumn wild fruit in the hedgerows (damson, blackbury)....
