Steven Coombs added Glyhir four, a new walk from Glyn-Neath to Hirwaun
Walk this routeLeaving Merthyr and walking up a hillside withn a clear path makes this a far more pleasant walk than other slow ways routes in the area that take you over the top of the hills. Sadly there are access issues in woods on the Llwydcoed side and an alternative route will need to be created....

I elected to do this walk as opposed to Glyhir1 and Glyhir3 as it avoided the former open cast site just to the south of the main road leaving Hirwaun. On my earlier walk from Aberdare to Hirwaun (Hirabe1), although the reclamation of the site looks to be fairly advanced, there was still a lot of lorries on the site, so I decided on the road walk....

One slight question mark over the path from Nant Melyn farm onto the mountain, not sure I got the right way here and had to jump a fence. Great views from the top of the mountain though, right across to the peaks of the Brecon Beacons, and the walk along the mountainside before turning right and heading down into Hirwaun was very pleasant.
