more walks and reviews are needed to fully connect Haslemere to the verified network. Can you give a hike and help?

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Haslemere’s Slow Ways.

At Tuesley there’s a new housing development where the path must have run before but you just carry on down the track and turn left around the edge of it1 I climbed over a gate and then at the other end realised another gate said it was a private track....

It’s an absolutely splendid route, mostly off road, mix of woodland and farm tracks. The loop around at Witley takes you by a pub and bus stops, I think it is good to keep in the route as part of the Slow Way ethos - it could be shorted out if wanted....

This is a very good route overall but … there is still an access problem, this time at Brook. I’ve made version Three which corrects the problem and makes a couple of improvement tweaks as well - recommend Hasgod Three! Photo shows where the route at Brook tries to go through someone’s garage and garden!...

Jane Taylor added Hasgod three, a new walk from Haslemere to Godalming
Walk this routeNumerous footpaths allow for slight variations on the route but this is a solid link from Godalming to Haslemere that is pleasant, not too taxing for walkers (IMO) and has train stations at both ends....

Slow Ways Cristie added Hasgod two, a new walk from Haslemere to Godalming
Walk this routeLovely walk mainly following the Serpent Way path. Not suitable for wheelchairs and even off-road buggies might struggle. Several sets of steps and narrow bridges....

In general, this route has issues with accuracy, as the route does not follow the paths outlined and therefore is actually longer by quite a distance. After getting to Wadesmarsh Farmhouse, the route tells you to turn east and then south, but the connection to the public footpath is cut off. While there was a footpath on the road, it was quite busy and unpleasant to walk on....

Just north of Hook Copse, the footpath veers off to the right on the map, but is not there on the ground, however it was easy to find by walking a bit further East and crossing over to where the footpath ought to have been....

The Liphook Road out of Whitehill is busy, so I stayed within the woods after Round Hill instead of returning to the road as the route shows. This turned out to be OK. The crossing point at the A3 is by a bend in the A3. This makes the crossing quite dangerous, it is necessary to sprint to the central reservation. Once across, the continuation is not clear. To make the situation worse, there is then a housing development which completely obliterates the path. I was not about to risk returning across the A3 and I found myself negotiating ditches and overgrown areas to get to the housing estate. If you want to walk this route, do not take this part. Even if the B3004 has no path from here it is a better option. 1) The route is not safe. Apart from the A3 crossing, there are sections on unpaved narrow road....

A couple of nice pubs en route at Henley and Fernhurst, plus a cafe at the cricket pavillion in Fernhurst....
