Help connect Goathland
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Goathland’s Slow Ways.

Lovely countryside / views, however very difficult to find the paths in the heather, good carpark in Goathland with toilet, nowhere to stop en-route until you get to Whitby. Not suitable for buggies / wheelchairs, or anyone concerned about deviating from the route. Think we walked an additional 2 miles....

Had a few issues, very easy to lose the path just before the plantation and we struggled to find the way in! Also the path alongside Russell's wood was waterlogged and we had to turn back....

When we went the route crossing the railway line was blocked but a short detour was possible to get to the other side of the railway. Also add that you need to cross the railway line once approaching Ruswarp, you need to do this twice so please ensure you use the crossing point control to be advised if it ok to cross and no train is approaching....
