Help connect Gatley

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Gatley’s Slow Ways.

The footpath off Longley Lane close to the Siltint building was impassable and we had to retrace our steps through the nearby housing estate to pick up the end of the footpath....

This route has a pleasant start along quiet suburban streets in Sale and along a brook (Baguely Brook) and path to Wythenshawe Park. We wondered if it might work better to walk down into the Sharston business park and into Gatley along Longley Lane - we plan to try that option next time. However this was not a pleasant experience and it may be possible to take a different route through Sharston Business Park and along Longley Lane....

The walk is very long started at 10am and finished at 13:32 so it’s a good 3 hours and a half walk and some of the walkways aren’t very good with like bricks and stones on one section of the Mersey but if you need a drink or food there’s many shops in gatley and sale and along the route such as Jackson’s boat and the good clubs I didn’t encounter any problems for walking after the walk you feel a sense of achievement and can treat yourself to a chippy afterwards like I did...

Rather dull route on city streets (the A560), albeit with some greenery around. Not really any better route between these though; direct, accessible, easy to navigate....

An interesting route that includes some high quality sections of woodland, wetland, rivers and interesting gardens. It is through built up areas so expect some pavement and section through housing...
