Give a hike!Help connect Fulbourn
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Fulbourn’s Slow Ways.

A good and direct route that generally follows the cycle path from Cambridge to Fulbourn. A couple of tight chicanes (and a narrow path in general) between High Street and Gazelle Way. Unlike the rest of the route, some of this stretch is also unpaved and there is a short flight of steps up to Gazelle Way....

I was lucky to spot a rabbit or hare racing across the fields, in what I anticipated would be the most dramatic moment on this section of trail, and so I was appropriately surprised when I came upon the splintered hawthorn and crumpled blue metal of a car which had lurched off the carriageway, which passed only a few metres to the left of the track, which had come to a halt directly on my path. At the end of the track, turn right along a quiet country road. I used the arc of the electricity pylons to mark my turn to the left off the road, but if you are following this route I wouldn’t recommend that path, as the proceeding footpath has been planted over by the farmer. Keep an eye out for the Public Footpath sign to the left, for a shortcut into Bottisham. When the path meets a road, turn right and then left at the sign reading Public Footpath, Little Wilbraham 1 ¼. Then at the next road, turn left along a tree-lined roadside path, and then right at the Bottisham Airfield Museum, once again crossing the A14. Another Public Footpath sign indicates when to turn right after crossing the bridge however, when I walked the route in March, this path across a field was again nothing more than a vague line in the mud. The path continues across fields, over one road and then ending at another, where you should turn briefly left and then right into another field At the road, turn right and, for one final diversion, left at the footpath signed Harcamlow Way, into the field which filters into an overgrown alley past the aforementioned buildings owned by S & B Herba Foods Ltd...

An interesting way cross-country, with ancient tracks and woodland adding variety, inspiration and shelter in this intensively farmed landscape. The A1307 crossing towards Copley Hill can be tricky so I've rated this 4 stars, but it's worth it! The section north of the Roman Road near Valley Farm has fields of crops sown right up to the footpath; in summer this makes the field-edge paths very narrow....

As mentioned in other reviews, where the path emerges beside the second level crossing beside Tesco Fulbourn Cherry Hinton a change is required....

Attractive route on rural footpaths through agricultural landscapes. The paths are well maintained, easy to walk, and safe. The route gpx is accurate....

Apart from crossing the two roads, this is a very nice walk. Much of it is along footpaths beside fields, but parts are through woods or wooded paths. There are many pleasant, open landscapes....

Good combination of urban, suburban and rural paths, some of it very beautiful. Watch out for a few very badly-maintained footpaths and also two parallel routes both called 'Fulbourn Old Drift' - rather confusing!...

Alex Reeve added Camful two, a new walk from Cambridge to Fulbourn
Walk this routeCambridge to Fulbourn is almost entirely paved and much of the route coincides with a cycle route from Fulbourn into the city. A short 200m unpaved stretch east of Sunmead Walk ending in steps onto Yarrow Road can easily be avoided by diverting 50m north onto Fulbourn Old Drift via Rushgrove. Capital Park business park now occupies part of the site on south side of Fulbourn Old Drift and in 2021 work commenced to build housing on the Ida Darwin Hospital site to the north....

Very pleasant walk through arable land on fairly well-maintained paths. There are some fast roads to cross....

Please note when crossing Yarrow Road it is necessary to cross to the level crossing to the south side of the railway and follow the path beside Tesco. A short 200m unpaved stretch east of Sunmead Walk ending in steps onto Yarrow Road can easily be avoided by diverting 50m north onto Fulbourn Old Drift via Rushgrove. Capital Park business park now occupies part of the site on south side of Fulbourn Old Drift and in 2021 work commenced to build housing on the Ida Darwin Hospital site to the north...
