Agree with other reviewers that the very end of this walk (or start if you are coming from Foxton) which is along a country road with part of it at national speed limit, for about 10-15mins, is not very pleasant, and could be quite dangerous at night because I don't think there were any lights - but there is normally a verge you can step on, just need to stay alert to traffic....

The route leaves Sawston on a very good, wide, shared use path signed for pedestrians, cyclists and horses....

Walk this route1.The path between Melborn and Meldreth train station is being repaired and is closed from 29/7/24 for 10-14 weeks. The path behind Meldreth Post Office is not a Right of Way, there is a gate with 'Private No Entry'.2...

Pleasant route going through varied environments, e.g. Approaching Sawston I didn't realise I had to come out of the farm and onto the Cambridge Road, so I continued along the farm track and had to climb over a low gates to get to the main road....
thejollygeo
This is a flat route that roughly follows the route of the River Cam or Rhee. Soon after rejoining the line of the river the path disappears into a zone of hedge and trees - whilst passable there was some bramble and nettle encroaching onto the path when walked in August 2021 and some locals have been bypassing by walking round via the field margin. Taking Button Lane out of Harston this leads onto a well drained field path to Haslingfield. After crossing the River Rhee a well signed permissive path granted by Trumpington Estate allows you to divert off the Slow Way, by following a concrete track around a new mixed woodland planted in celebration of Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. From here there is a choice of routes to the centre but the Slow Way route next to the river and then up Mill Lane is probably the most attractive....

The route starts from Royston station and proceeds on a pavement beside a busy A road for about a mile and a half - there are a few large roundabouts to cross which do not have pedestrian crossings. After this the route is on a pavement beside a quiet country road leading through the village of Melbourn which is very picturesque and has a number of options for refreshments e.g. Once in Foxton the route leads on the pavement through the village up to the railway station where the route ends....
shedges
A nice route using footpaths, dirt tracks, country roads, and the pavements of roads in Sawston, Newton, and Foxton. Occasionally muddy in parts, especially in winter or after recent rain....
Matthew Law
This route is fairly flat and benefits from great views over the flat Cambridgeshire countryside for much of its length. The section to Grantchester is very well walked, on a smooth tarmac path and has good views of the river. The motorway crossing is via a fairly steep bridge with wide steps, and there are sections across fields which would be muddy following wet weather....
