Quite steep climbing up the cliffs from Dover. Quite busy with coach parties at the Dover White Cliffs end....
Bostal Boy
It is a very easy route to follow as most of it is on the Saxon Shore Way and/or the English Coast Path. There is now a very easy broad white path , constructed in the last couple of years, which removes all ambiguity between the lighthouse and the White Cliffs visitor centre....

Fantastic walk with the exception of the final bit into/out of Dover which is by a main road full of trucks queuing for the port and spectacularly ugly and why I dock this walk a star. Apart from this, expect stunning views from the cliff tops and plenty of challenging climbs. You can detour off the given route into the Warren at Folkestone for even more nature and narrow steep paths....

However the route is fairly obvious on the ground as it follows the regular England Coast Path and North Downs Way signs all the way into Dover. The path up to the Eastern cliffs at Folkestone past the second Martello tower was steep and a bit slippery. There are quite a few narrow and slippery paths, some quite near the cliff and some are quite steep....

It’s quite challenging as the route is very undulating and quite exposed if the weather is bad....

From the end of Dover seafront the route goes along East Cliff and up the steep Dame Vera Lynn Way, which ends in a long flight of steps and another steep climb. There are lots of places to rest along the way, with refreshments and public toilets at Dover, White Cliffs, South Foreland Lighthouse, St Margaret's Bay, Kingsdown, Walmer and Deal....

If you walk this route, you shouldn't have any trouble, and it's a perfectly good route, but I've uploaded DovDea two that should be a bit more precise to follow....

I walked this route from Dover to Deal. I found the stretch of road walking in St Margaret's to be surprisingly unpleasant, a narrow road with little cover. Along this road, your choice is walking on the road, a narrow stretch of tarmac with no pavement, or on the "beach", which makes for very slow walking along the rocks. There's a lot to explore and discover in Deal, I was quite pleased to end my walking for the day there and explore!...

Getting onto the walk is somewhat hard to find in Dover, and is best approached from the seafront and beach at Dover....
