Too much road walking, with sections where no verge to get off road if vehicles pass. Stokesley to killdale section Dangerous for walkers....

High points: There is a truly lovely riverside path either side of Glaisdale running from Rake Lane through the village to Delves Lane near Danby, although the path is occasionally steep and can get slippery and muddy in winter. Low points: The path can very easily get muddy in bad weather; the stretches between Danby station and Danby Beacon, and between Sleights and Ruswarp can be particularly bad, especially in winter. Road Walking: Quite a bit, especially along Delves Lane between Glaisdale and Egton....

Walked this route from Guisborough to Danby on a classic changeable spring day. - there is one quite tricky stile right at the end, as you approach Danby (see first photo) where you have to climb up some stone steps. - there's not really any places to stop once you leave Guisborough. I came across maybe 1 bench (at the top of the first climb our of Guisborough Forest)....

It's quite a varied route, starting out on a quiet road and an old railway line out of Guisborough (near the famous priory, which is well worth a look before you start), uphill through a wood, before emerging out onto the moors and into the national park, where I saw lots of grouse....
