Help connect Colwinston

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Colwinston’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates

The first section is along very quiet country roads – only 4 cars passed me. Then through fields to the outskirts of Bridgend, where it took a while to cross the A48, but all in all, not too bad....

There's a long section of road walking around Llandow Trading Estate, which, while not overly busy, is not that quiet either....

Walk this route

A really nice start off road circling the church and then pleasant, peaceful walking along historic quiet lanes. My favourite part of the walk was taking a short diversion to take a visit to St Michaels church and Ewenny Priory....

It was nice to see the impressive church is Llanblethian and then to walk along the road with views to the south. Following the meandering road again it’s fairly flat until you reach the village of Colwinston with yet another pub and historic church to visit....

Walk this route

A pleasant walk firstly through country lanes from Colwinston, then the middle section through fields around the Ewenny Priory estate, before entering the outskirts of Bridgend for the last leg. The land around the route is intensive agriculture most of the way, but there are some nice views over the Ewenny Valley and Bridgend after leaving the lanes and descending down through the fields....

A lovely walking route, mostly through lanes (Photo 1), but also a nice bit of woodland coming out of Cowbridge....

The footpath section after the church at Llanblethian is lovely, just follow the main path through the woodland and enjoy it....

Walk this route

Leaving Bridgend it took some concentration to cross the A48, even on a Sunday morning, and there were a few stone slabs instead of stiles - but overall, it’s a good route....

Walk this route

I enjoyed this walk - enough hazards to make it interesting (running bulls, rickety stiles, boggy patches and a railway line to traverse) but no significant access issues, and the paths were fairly well-marked....

However, there’s no need to use the main road at the Cowbridge-end of the route....
