Straightforward walk, a bit muddy in the off road sections and the there is one section of road walking with no pavement - about 5 cars went past me, so not too busy....

The only slight issue is when you get to Church Road in Church Village, there is a small section without any pavement that is on a bend and seemed to be fairly busy....

The path through the woods and then across the fields and lanes, as opposed to following the main road all the way, makes this worthwhile....

After leaving the streets behind there`s a lovely section walking up through Graig-y-Fforest woods and then out onto the rural lane that takes you down into Church Village....

After heading through the village, you follow the zig-zags down to the river and then join the Taff trail about 5 miles in and follow the blue signs all the way down the river into the centre of the city where the route finishes at Cardiff Central station....

You pass through a few farms and it’s hard to navigate where to rejoin the route, the stiles are in poor condition and in places it’s very boggy. Would only advise for an experienced walker....

Walk this routeAn outdoor fitness company is using this area so there are plenty of tracks (and even some dilapidated footpath markers), but access at the top seemed to be blocked. There's a much better route parallel to this one - see Chucae2....

South of Church Village, the path across the Dryscoed property is clearly marked but when it joins the road there's an automatic gate....

The nicest part is the lane running north of Church Village and the footpath connecting it with Treforest. There are signs informing walkers about the views to Pen y Fan and Somerset (not today though)....

This route is very pleasant and acceptable, the area just east of the middle section is very pitted with animal hoof marks. but I walked it in June in dry weather and the surface had hardened making it easy to walk in trainers....

Walk this routeThe chosen route is the most beautiful route I could imagine but there are many areas which are difficult underfoot and the path in the area between Berthlwyd Bungalow and Forest Uchaf Farm is very difficult to follow....
