Help connect Bugle
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Bugle’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates
Although I havent attempted this route, I note that it uses the same public right of way west of Roche (on the way to St Dennis). This right of way is blocked for a major road development (likely for 2-3 years). See my review of IndBug1 for more details....

You are soon onto decent public rights of way and relatively quiet roads, making your way through to Roche. Roche makes a good stopping point on the route, with public toilets and other facilities/amenities available....

I walked this both ways, watch out for the unobtrusive footpath that takes you between Treverbyn and the High path on the Downs, it forks at one point but Treverbyn is down the hill....

This is a very good route at heart but some of the roadwalking is not ideal and, as the previous reviewer pointed out, the fields entering Lostwithiel are a bit tricky. Instead the overgrown footpath is bypassed via the bottom of the field itself, a new style has been placed in a wire fence arrangement - odd but it works - and the OS marked footpath heading east to Lostwithiel takes you down a wide grassy track and multiple sheep fields (route unmarked on the ground otherwise) to a style onto a footpath that drops you nicely on a pavement into town....

This route has lots to reccomend it and just a few things of which to be aware....

This is a beautiful slowway taking in lush woodland, the magnificent Treffry viaduct and sweeping open farmland. If by luck or design you prefer to take the lower path through the valley this is also fine, just pass under the viaduct and go up the steps near the Luxulyan car park for a short climb to the viaduct walkway to rejoin the route....

The suggested B3374 often becomes a rat-run for the A391, The road is not terribly straight or flat so drivers' sight lines are poor. The day I reviewed this route I did not feel at all safe and could not reccomend it as a walking option....

everydayduffy added Buglos two, a new walk from Bugle to Lostwithiel
Walk this routeAfter travelling through Lanlivery (nice looking farmshop), there is a wiggly and slightly frustrating section to find a more pleasant route into Lostwithiel. Unforutnately there isn't a very direct way to avoid it and enter Lostwithiel directly, so there is some indirect walking to eventually get onto a footpath linking to the B3268 which is a lot quieter. Overall a very good slow way, but does have a lot of stompy road walking and a slightly frustrating indirect approach to Lostwithiel which probably can't be avoided if wishing to not walk on main roads as much as possible....
everydayduffy
Despite not being a right of way, the start of this route follows a well trodden path alongside a waterway to the bottom of the Luxulyan valley. They are bumpy paths, and the slow way route goes up a fairly steep hill for a decent ammount of time. However, it seems generally that all paths are connected in some way, so you can end up at the right end of the valley eventually. The official route takes the road around the village to the other side, but there is a short fairly busy stretch with no pavement....

Good condition, easy to use, signposted, country views and wildlife, train station at Bugle....
