Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Biggleswade’s Slow Ways.

There's a couple of spots along the way that could be a little trickier in terms of navigation, but the gpx is accurate, just on the ground the signposting and footpaths are a little trickier to identify on the Shefford side of Broom....

Large section to the south of the route traverses the River Ivel, and the north section takes in the RSPB , a cafe and toilets (check opening times) and a pleasant woodand section down into Sandy. The route is also saved by Biggleswade Common being open access, making the gpx issues less critical. You *could* cut across Biggleswade Common (still open access) to the East of the trainline towards Sandy, but there are numerous male cattle and horses in the field and potential boggy sections *untested* and the route sensibly suggests hugging the west margin2...

mbarking on this journey offers a delightful and visually appealing trek, characterized by well-defined trails that guide you seamlessly through the natural landscape. However, it's worth noting that certain stretches of the path can be quite exposed to the elements, and during periods of rainfall or in the heart of the winter season, the trail often becomes muddy and more challenging to navigate. Given these conditions, it might be prudent to choose a different time for your visit, preferably when the weather has been dry for an extended period or during the more temperate months, to ensure a more enjoyable and less cumbersome walking experience....

Quickly out of Biggleswade town to a stunning riverside path next to the Ivel. Across a bridge and up towards The RSPB Lodge which is very beautiful, The path goes past a visitor centre, but it was closed (Friday, 26th May)....

Quickly out of the town there is a riverside walk along the River Ivel Navigation, starting park-like then becoming more rural with reed beds. There is then a 1.5km walk along a wide verge towards Stanford. Under the A1 via 'rabbit-hole' tunnels (you can go through any of the holes!) then field past an invisible Earthwork towards Biggleswade town....

Very beautiful route, with a combination of woodland, pavement, paths, and towpath next to a river. Part of it passes through the RSPB Lodge nature reserve. Large areas not suitable for wheelers due to uneven and narrow paths....
