Connect Bentley with Slow Ways
We’re creating a network of walking routes that connect all of Britain’s towns, cities and national parks
more walks and reviews are needed to fully connect Bentley to the verified network. Can you give a hike and help?
Give a hike!Help connect Bentley
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Bentley’s Slow Ways.

I walked this route at the end of February and although it had been reasonably dry, quite a few sections cross cultivated fields which were muddy and slippery in places. On the outskirts of Farnham, where you cross Crondall Lane the route passes through a new housing estate with no obvious footpath signage at the western end although there is a sign at the other end opposite the University buildings....

A lot of this route is along St Swithun's Way, which is generally well-marked and therefore easy to follow. I did not have any access issues when I did this walk, and it was mostly quite level....

This route has lovely scenery and was easy to follow for most of the way, especially as a large section of it is along St Swithun's Way, which is clearly marked for the most part. The only trouble I had was with the various lanes I was supposed to be walking once I'd arrived in Farnham - these perhaps need to be reviewed (or maybe I'm just terrible at map-reading!)....

It involves several stiles and parts of the route will probably get muddy after heavy rain....

I live locally and I took this route on Wednesday 9th June 2021 using GPS.. This walk was a pleasant surprise for me. It runs close to the A31, along side a railway line, passes a quarry and appears to have a long urban stretch through Wrecclesham and Farnham. None of this matters. The parts along the river are delightful and the route picks its way through pleasant paths and green areas of Farnham.. 1) The route is fairly safe...

Leaving Hook you soon reach Bartley Heath. The paths here don't quite match the OS map but it's easy enough to navigate across it with the B3349 and M3 roaring at you to steer you in the right direction. The path the other side of the motorway takes you across a bleak farm field to Lodge Farm which is more of an industrial complex than a farm. Dodging the HGVs was helped by reasonable signage to get you through. You leave Well along a lane with no paths. To make this worse, the path that should take you past Shrub Copse is shut off by an iron gate, forcing you to continue along the road. The highlight of the walk is Husseys Lane and the following walk into Bentley. As far as recommendation goes, it's not much of a walk for pleasure but it's hard to see an alternative way of walking between to two towns....

5) It is nearly all off road but there is a short stretch of road without pavement at Blacknest. The traffic is light and there are grassy patches at the side. 6) There are pubs at Kingsley and Blacknest, on short spurs off the route....

I live locally and I took this route on Friday 7th May 2021.. 8) The route is fairly clear but there are a couple of junctions where I would have taken the wrong direction without GPS....

5) It is mostly off road or on road with pavement but there are a couple of short stretches of road without pavement. 8) The route is fairly clear but there are a couple of places where you could be led a little astray without GPS....
