Having reached the road, I decided I had no confidence in the next detour west, so I stayed on the road and turned up Red Row Drive to join another Slow Way (from Blyth) which had been approved by Philip le Marquand, a reviewer I trust....

This is a lovely fun route which has plenty of variety but doesn't deserve 5 stars because of a couple of tricky parts, as noted below....
