At Cwmmawr, turn right for a short steep uphill before turning left and then following the paths through Mynydd Mawr. If you're not in a rush, there's a host of lovely paths to meander among and explore, or you can follow the direct track until you come out at the car park and turn right, heading through Cefneithin. Passing through Capel Hendre (resisting the urge to stop at the pub!) follow a nice bridleway alongside the river and past the solar farm, and then, a short while later, trust the mapped route as it takes you down an unmarked lane between some houses - it will then deliver you into the Nant y Ci park and a pleasant meander down through the woods before following the last bit of road into Ammanford....

Lovely to walk into Llandeilo, past a spooky derelict house just below the curved bridge - a perfect example of something I've driven past dozens of times without ever seeing....

The climb was pretty quick and then the route stays on the top for ages with lovely views back over the Loughor Estuary and the Gower and the sea at the far west end....

Follow the road up through Garnswllt before turning left (well marked with footpath sign) along a track/driveway and then right up a long flight of steps. When this peters out, just head slightly right and uphill for a short distance until you come to the road. The path then drops steeply off to your right, down a short, sharp hill - at the bottom of the hill, turn left onto the clear track and follow it until you get to the gate off the common. Follow the lane down, then at the end of the lane turn right onto the road into Pontarddulais itself....

An easy connecting route between Ammanford and Brynamman which, for the most part, follows the Amman Valley cycleway. The only road section is up from Lower Brynamman to Upper Brynamman, and this has pavements all the way. Pretty much level the whole way....

Difficult to find the start point, poorly marked for the first half and frequently unclear how to traverse private land, as a result it's been barely used of late and is heavily overgrown in places....
