Help connect Addlestone

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Addlestone’s Slow Ways.

Mostly flat but occasionally muddy along the river path....

It is a short section, starting along residential roads (photo #1) until reaching the Coxes Mill Pond and lock (photo #2)....

Walk this route

It does begin on a long segment of quiet roads, but then it is introduced to more woodland area and it just gets nicked from there. There were a couple of incidents that could be an issue to a walker, such as narrow paths that required waiting for it to be clear and getting a bit lost in one part as there were lots of different routes to take. Overall it was pleasant and mostly accessible apart from the few patches of rough ground and continuous inclines...

Only dropped from 5 star due to the unavoidable bit of main road (A317) approaching Chertsey....

Walk this route

It's fairly accessible, only a few roads to cross and narrow paths at some instances, but overall it's lovely and quite short...

Walk this route

All the trees provide shade, making it the perfect walk for summer. It isn't too long and doesn't feel entirely secluded due to road sections, making it an nice easy walk that can be done by all. It is mostly accessible, however there are a few parts where the foliage makes the paths narrow to walk down, which may cause some issues...

Walk this route

I walked this from Woking to Addlestone on a sunny spring afternoon, with the previous day also being sunny, but with significant rain in the week before....

The Addlestone section of this walk is through housing, but the remainder is picturesque and pleasant along the Wey Navigation. Some sections can be very muddy so keep mind if planning to walk this route after significant rainfall....

The meadows between Chertsey bridge and Addlestone are low lying; there were some unavoidable wet patches but nothing went over the top of my boots....

Excellent route making the most of the towpaths alongside the Basingstoke Canal and Wey navigation. Walked Addlestone to Woking, cold frosty and sunny day. Good paths underfoot, a gradual rise as the locks raise the canal level....

Walk this route

A short pleasent walk with some interesting features. There are some steep ramps to the bridges over the River Wey. The tow path is not made up and can get muddy and wet....

James Emmans

Walk this route

Good route - direct and mainly paved although the section of tow path along side the River Wey is not paved but more rough and could be a bit muddy if wet. Away from traffic and mostly very quiet pleasant walk....

Walk this route

A little muddy on towpath by the River Wey but there had been very heavy showers during the past week. No steps or gates....

Walk this route

Although a pleasant, noisy with traffic and a fairly long stretch by side a relatively busy road. The path off Green Lane was narrow with a kissing gate. OK for walkers but challanging for Buggies and wheel chairs....
