Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

29 May 2021The route starts well down Main Street in Yoxall passing two pubs and a supermarket. A turning to the left and a path to the right puts you on the National Forest Way which takes you the whole way there. The terrain is a mixture of trackway, woodland and field. This is a contrast with the section where you pass the manicured environment of Wychnor Country Club. Throughout the walk there are great views out across the Trent Valley towards Rugeley and Lichfield. The route then picks up close to the River Trent and takes you across the fields outside Alrewas before a gorgeous crossing of the Trent and then the Trent and Mersey Canal. The meeting point is not far and is adjacent to the bus stop for both buses north to Burton and south to Lichfield (they both pick up in the same direction). There are also two pubs and a pharmacy nearby too. The route is direct, offroad and beautiful. Full marks!.

08 May 2021The route is very good and well marked. It does have stiles and gates and potentially could be very muddy. We walked it on a dry day on 7 May 2021. There is a picnic spot about half a mile from Yoxall on a hill with good views. Alrewas has 2 pubs with one offering B & B, a pharmacy and post office, 2 food shops and 2 takeaways. Yoxall offers a food store, pub and dry cleaners.

07 May 2021Very nice walk with some high ground and views. Climb the steps to the viewpoint. Mostly pasture so some cattle. Stiles or what may claim to be, complaints made to Staffs CC. Alrewas end does flood with high river levels.

29 May 2021Oops... after Wychnor the route follows the bank of the Swarbourn (just before it flows into the Trent) not the Trent
