Description

Reroute northern section to avoid various issues including:
(1) Fast-moving traffic and no footway on Rake Lane,
(2) Difficult keyhole bridge with no footway and restricted sightlines on Rake Lane at Eccleston,
(3) Impossible crossing of A55 where no bridge or other access exists,
(4) Avoid Overleigh Roundabout using low-traffic road and cycle/footway link,
(5) Use quieter Old Dee Bridge in preference to narrow footway over busy Grosvenor Bridge.

Additional advice 22 Dec 2021:
I'd suggest not bothering to try and cross the A483.

Heading southwards between Marford (SJ359563) and Wrexham centre, I would choose to:

- Remain on the B5445 and head southwards to the junction with Old Wrexham Road (SJ349546)
- Take the Old Wrexham Road south past the lake 'The Flash'
- Cross the A5156 by footbridge (SJ343530)
- Continue into Wrexham centre using any of the minor roads

If preferred, the section of B5445 through Marford and Gresford could be swapped for following the existing Wreche one / Wreche two route further south as far as the railway footbridge at SJ348552, then crossing the line and follow the footpath and High Street to Old Wrexham Road junction (SJ349546).

(There's little to choose between the two routes - the existing route is a quiet road but has no footway; the B5445 has pavements but is busier.)

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Before walking from Wrexham to Chester, I looked on Google Maps Street View and decided there was no way I was going to walk across the A483 by the railway crossing at OS Grid Ref: SJ 33972 54202. It is a busy dual carriageway with a 70mph speed limit.
I've uploaded and now walked WreChe Three based on further suggestions from JammyScone.
