I walked the 4 miles from Fernhill Health to Vines Park during a hot day in May. Dilmore Lane down to the canal at Porters Mill has no pavement or streetlights, so be mindful of cars until you reach the canal path over the bridge. The full route is only suitable for walking or bikes, and some elements are very narrow by the canal making it difficult o pass other walkers. The track is uneven for most of the way and can be muddy during rainy periods.

There are few areas to actually take a break and take a seat, thought there is one benchmark half way. There are no bins or facilities until you reach Vines Park

It is a beautiful walk along the countryside, with multiple viewings of geese, swans, ducks, herons, canal barges, anglers and I could hear cuckoos and woodpeckers in the distance.

From Salwarpe to the Vines park the track van get overgrown, though was good today, but please note this whole section of towpath is closed from 19th May 2025 to 5th August 25 as they will be making various improvements.

Vines Park was welcome break with plenty of benches and seats by the canal, and a walk into the town of Droitwich for a cold drink. There is a bike spot to lock your bikes by Waitrose across from the park and various cafes, pubs and shops to visit.

I would recommend this walk and would do this again, and or bike ride. Once the towpath works have been completed in August.

This is a much improved version of Wordro one which in my opinion should now be quietly retired.
It includes the short but necessary deviation along Hindlip Lane to access the underpass under the A449 (good Monarch's Way signing here).
I agree that the field crossing off Kennels Lane starts off in a stream and I suspect is little used because of that - simply continuing along the lane is wht most people will end up doing.
Good work improving the routing at the Droitwich end which was poorly done on Wordro one.

Walked from Worcester to Droitwich

I recommend this route as part of Slow Ways as a starting route. But it's I think it can be improved.

This route is not suitable for wheelchairs as it uses a footbridge to cross a rail line in Fernhill Heath to the north of Worcester. There are also styles and rough tracks.

I would suggest it to others that are prepared to use the GPX track as a rough guide only.

It is reasonably safe and direct. However there is a few sections of the track that are on road without pavements. 250 meters of this heads west on Hindlip Lane, it's a busy narrow road with cars that pass close by. Some people will be uncomfortable with this.

There is a field that this route crosses that starts with a style that has a large unavoidable puddle, it had been raining before my walk. Water nearly came over my boots that are about 15cm tall. The field can be avoided by continuing on the road.

The the Droitwich half of the route isn't well drawn. It's not obvious which side of the canal should be used at some points.

I will attempt to upload a more tidy version of this route and upload to Slow Ways as a slightly better alternative.
