31 May 2024This is an excellent walk with beautiful moorland views. It mainly follows the Pennine Bridleway which means it is predominantly on good paths or tracks and there is little difficulty with route-finding. The descent from Gorple Stones to Gorple Upper Reservoir is on a rougher path and was wet in places.
This walk is accessible by bus at both ends or can be extended to make a longer walk between Burnley and Hebden Bridge which both have good rail connections.
Note that the New Delight Inn at Jack Bridge makes a better finishing point than the current one at Blackshaw Edge. The pub is good and has its own campsite and a bus stop is outside.
