Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

03 Mar 2023 (edited 09 Jul 2023)There were good parts of this route but it was let down by the noisy busy roads from Bexleyheath town centre, by Normanhurst Ave I was quite irritable. I did enjoy West Wickham Open Space (which I'd never visited before) and Plumstead Common. The route line was sometimes hazy e.g. in West Wickham OS the mapped line doesn't fit the rather curving and sometimes steeply sloped paths, there is no line of sight to help you either. It's far from insurmountable, just a little more effort than it needs to be.
Any route between Plumstead and Woolwich will have some very steep bits, but this one isn't too bad as the hill roads are fairly quiet. There are two very long flights of steps at Plumstead Common (each 50? 60? more?) going down and then up from the Slade Ponds.
There are greener options, and slightly more accessible options. But unfortunately not options which are both.

14 Jul 2022Fairly urban walk, but felt effective and was easy enough to follow.
