Description
This is an OK way to walk between Wilton and Salisbury. The route makes use of the local knowledge and improvements suggested on Wilsal One. It is significantly shorter than Wilsal One too.
The route includes some beautiful and interesting places, but it is also a functional route that makes the most of the paths and places that are available. There is walking about 1km walking on a path beside a busy road and some walking on quiet lanes.
It would be great if a new path could be created that fixed the safety issues raised with Wilsal One so that people can enjoy this greener, quieter and more off-road route

11 May 2023I did this route back to Wilton having completed Wilsal1. It was certainly a let down compared to that route. Yes it cuts out the questionable 0.17 mi section of road ( up to the racecourse ), but in exchange walking on the pavements on the very busy A3094, and A36 is hardly a deal breaker. The pavement from the station out to Cherry Orchard Lane is awful ( but safe ! ). By incorporating the short off road section in Quidhampton makes it a non mobility friendly route, I will upload Wilsal3, so that pushchairs etc can undertake. I am also looking at an off road route up behind the racecourse, but will need to walk it before uploading.

13 May 2022A functional and safe route between Wilton and Salisbury with some interesting points along the route - but also a fair bit of road walking.

13 May 2022I designed this route in response to reviews and safety concerns on Wilsal One.
This is a direct route that has fascinating places and the charms of both historic Wilton and Salisbury, but also unusual green spaces and a significant section of agglomerated car show-rooms.
It is certainly good enough to be in the network, but I've not given it more stars because of the section of walking down Salisbury Road, the crossing over Netherhampton Road and some lane walking.
This is a good alternative to Wilsal One, but I'd like to see the safety issues with that route addressed so that people can enjoy that way too.
