Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I completed this walk yesterday travelling northwest from Darlaston. At 1.55 miles, it's amongst the shorter of slow ways, and actually I think is probably it's saving grace as it doesn't offer much in the way of inspiration. When looking at the options of which Wildar I should do, the only reason I chose this was that Wildar three retraced the steps for a fair portion of my onward route from Willenhall - which was Wilwal two. In hindsight, I shouldn't have let that deter me.

However, it is direct, and along pavements which are good after heavy rainfall, so it can be recommended.

A safe direct and no-nonsense Slow Way. Leaving Willenhall centre it soon cuts down a side street and crosses the railway via a bridge. Joining the A462, with crossings where needed, this is a highly functional walk. At Rough Hay it turns into a residential street which makes for quieter pavements and this takes you all the way to the meeting point by the bus stops outside Asda. The one negative is that it misses the centre of Darlaston, but that is more of a product of the choice of meeting point rather than the route. The bakery, pubs and pizzeria are a short walk away and can be reached, but it would have been nice to include them in the route.
