01 Feb 2023King Street was quite interesting then crossing the A49 was fine with pedestrian lights, but boring and traffic-heavy. It was nice to reach the canal with its wide towpath and locks. There was a reasonably wide pedestrian footbridge over the canal with a kissing-gate/cycle-barrier combo at the end of it: maybe okay for smaller wheelchairs but mobility scooters would struggle, I think.
The wooded path and bridge were okay, but I would probably avoid them at night.
A reasonable route.

03 Jan 2023A short route linking Wigan and Ince.
Wigan is a large town centre, with plenty of amenities and is well connected to the public transport network, with a bus station and two rail stations serving locations throughout the country. Ince is also linked to the rail network and has an hourly train service to Wigan, Salford and Manchester. Amenities in Ince are more basic, with a small shop a few minutes walk from the station.
The route is well surfaced throughout, predominantly tarmac and paving with a short section of gravel on the final approaches to Ince.
In addition to the rougher gravel sections, there are moderately steep gradients and kissing gates which are likely to be a barrier for some wheelchair users (refer to images).
As has been mentioned in previous reviews, Wiginc One is unlikely to win awards for its scenic views, and a dark and dingy bridge passing below the railway certainly acts as a deterrent for some users. That said, the rest of the walk is pleasant, if uneventful.

07 Dec 2022A short and straightforward route between the centre of Wigan and the suburb of Ince.
From Wigan, the route is along good pavements, with ramps and low kerbs at all crossings. Once on Warrington Road, there is a crossing that takes us onto the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The kissing gate is wide and good for all users, and the towpath beyond is paved.
At the first lock, we cross the footbridge, and, past another wide kissing gate, we enter the woods beyond. The path is tarmacced. Under the railway bridge, it can be wet and muddy, but passable. Beyond, the path gets a bit rougher, but it is short and comes out onto the road, with Ince station not to far away.
Lots of shops in Wigan, but nothing at the Ince end, but bus stops and train stations at each end.
Suitable for foot and wheelchair users alike.

03 Sep 2021This was a little boring and a little scary. It travels through an urban area for the most part and improved when it followed the canal. It then passed through a heavily wooded area where I felt very isolated. It also passes underneath a long and very dark railway bridge.
Looking on the map I would have prefered to follow the canal to ///dined.bets.cotton and then made my way to Ince station (by path, or road).
