Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

09 Sep 2024This is a nice easy route. Which as indicated in the route description follows the Templar Way between Haytor Vale and Challabrook farm on the outskirts of Bovey Tracey. The route between the farm and the town centre is on safe farm road and paved roads. Between Haytor Vale and Widecombe, there are wonderful views as the road follows the B3387 for about 4 miles. This road is unpaved but it is relatively easy for most of its length to step onto the wide verges at the side of the road. On weekends and holidays In particular, this road is very busy, as both Haytor and Widecombe are tourist honeypots. So I will be putting together an alternative for those who wish to get away from the traffic, but take a more rugged off-road option. However I enjoyed this route and found it to be safe, There is an option to go into Haytor for refreshments at the cafe or The Rock Inn. Also there is almost always an ice-cream van at Haytor car park just off the road.
