Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

23 Jun 2023Whitchurch to Micheldever Station 1 (Whimic 1) review.
The route starts at the small Hampshire town of Whitchurch on the River Test (Photo 1). It heads south past the Silk Mill Museum; and then leaves the lane for a long footpath through attractive fields (Photo 2).
I found the exact footpath to be unclear, but muddled part of the way along tractor paths without trouble. An overgrown byway (Photo 3) then heads east to join the Micheldever Road.
The Slow Way goes through the fancy Roundwood estate (Photo 4). There is then a long walk south alongside the busy Overton Road with a narrow verge (Photo 5). The visibility is good but one needs to be vigilant.
After going under the A303, look out for the rather hidden entrance to the footpath alongside the railway cutting. The path is narrow in places and overgrown (Photo 6).
Finally, the Slow Way crosses a field to reach Micheldever Station (Photo 7).
Overall, I enjoyed this walk. It occurred to me that an alternative final stretch would be to stick to the Micheldever Road and take the Andover Road to the station. This would avoid the busy road, but one would miss out on the Roundwood estate. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.
