02 May 2021Passes through the villages of Ravensthorpe, Holdenby and Harlestone. Pleasant route with some nice scenery, particularly Harlestone woods, but much of the route is quite muddy when the weather has been wet.
There are stiles, kissing gates and long stretches of rough, heavily rutted ground so it's not really accessible on wheels. The short road section in Ravensthorpe is not ideal - there is only a very small verge to stand on when cars come by. Also, be careful when you cross the driving range at Harlestone! There is signage on most of the route but I would probably have taken some wrong turns without a map to hand.
The route is probably the most direct and safe between the two end points, although you could choose any number of routes in the Northampton section.
The Fox and Hounds pub in Harlestone serves food. If you take slight diversions from the route you could visit the garden centre in Harlestone that has a cafe and the pub in Ravensthorpe.

09 Sep 2023Looking to snail Westnor and fill a gap - shall we do route one or two? I guess two, since you walked one and then invented two afterwards, Panic452? Cheers!
