I walked from Wendover. July 25.
HS2 has scuppered this route.
In the previous review, Oct 21, Swebbews said there were well signposted diversions due to preparation works. Well the works are in full swing now and the paths SW of Wendover are no more.
I met some Ridgeway walkers trying to follow the diversion sighs without success, They headed off across the countryside with map, GPS, and fingers crossed.
Balcombe Lane Link Road - closed.
So I headed back, then along the A413.
Balcombe Lane and the bridleway - closed
I carried on along a verge next to the busy road.
Smalldean Lane - closed. Here I met a HS2 foreman who informed me that all the diversion maps were very out-of-date and no help. He was helpful but he couldn't suggest a good way across the works.
So, I carried on along the London Road A413 until having negotiated road works and a temporary road under an HS2 bridge (not recommended) I could then walk up a narrow road, Dunsmore Lane, into Dunsmore and pick up the route from there. Phew!

From Dunsmore to Prestwood is beautiful, really nice walk.

I can't recommend my 'diversion', too ugly, too dodgy through roadworks under the bridge, and likely to change anyway, So I have flagged this route. When HS2 is done this, or a similar, route will be a stunner.

We took this route from Prestwood to Wendover and thoroughly enjoyed the walk. Other than a short section on roads when leaving Prestwood, the walk was through woodlands and across fields, with good views of the Chiltern countryside.
There was a short diversion from the indicated path as we approached Wendover because of HS2 preparation works, but this was clearly marked and easy to follow. I imagine that such diversions will continue over the next few years as the HS2 project continues.

I walked this route from Prestwood.

It starts winding through paths through residential neighborhoods before emerging into more open countryside pretty quickly.

The stretch of road walking just after leaving Prestwood were along very narrow roads. I only encountered one slow moving car, but it was a bit uncomfortable for my liking. Luckily, the stretch was short.

Otherwise, this route was easy to navigate, straightforward, nice and varied between farmland, open country, and wooded space. It was a bit hilly, so be aware of that! I really enjoyed this route overall!

I also loved ending in Wendover - I thought the town was really lovely, and it was a great end point for my walk. I stopped to get a slice of cake at the chocolaterie and it was fantastic.

We walked from our home in Prestwood to Wendover. A good route. The narrowest parts were alleyways in Prestwood. One stile about a mile from Wendover was quite high and difficult for someone of my height (1m 50) once you got over the stile there was a steep drop to the ground.
